//I believe in nothing : not the end and not the start.//

So, today's rehearsal was not good. And I keep wondering, was it something that I did that caused them to be so unfriendly? What did I ever do to her, she's killed me a million times over and I can't even speak to her about it. I should have talked to her when it first happened, but I was too afraid then and it wouldn't do any good now, talking about it.
She could care less about me, and it's clear that she can still hurt me, after all she and they have done to me.
Just to clarify, she was my best friend. And now I have real friends, best friends, and they actually care about me this time. Still, she made me what I am now. I don't trust as easily as I used to. And I have a scar over my heart (well, not literally).
I want to hate her, but I also want her to be my friend still. I'm much better than I used to be though. You think this is bad, you should have seen me last year. That was not a good year for me.
I'm focusing too much on her. I have so much now: lots of friends, an amazing close circle of best friends, a boyfriend and so much more.
And yet I still want her to be my friend, to like me.

I think I'll leave it at that.

Annoying things.

So, my first rant. I think I will start with a list of things that piss me off. And I'm sure that I end up doing a number of things that will be on this list :) please don't judge. I'm occasionally a hypocrite, but I try not to be.

1. Lame spelling of words.
Please, people, it really doesn't take that much effort when texting/instant messaging someone to put that apostrophe or exra letter in. You really don't have to abbreviate everything. That is so redundant: for example, "can u pck up my pnecil cse". Come ON people. Like, is that really necessary? Does it take that much effort to just fix a spelling error when you see it and change it or if you spelt it that way on purpose, get real.
I mean, sure, it's fine within a certain boundary. For sure I don't always use capitals when texting and I don't always use 100% correct English, but at least I put some EFFORT into it. At least I try to make an effort so the other person doesn't have to sort through bad grammar, garbled words and no capitalization.

2. People who have a constant need to show off.
Come ON. This is soooo annoying: is it really necessary? I go to a private school, so at least half the people there feel the need to constantly raise their hands. That's fine, sure, but certain people are always showing off (e.g. W & R). They just need to realize that everything is not centred around them. Get real, guys. We don't need to constantly hear your (often stupid and banal) comments.
Raising your hand is fine when you have a point to make. Raising your hand to just talk about random crap you thought of is redundant and unnecessary. Please.

This list will be continued, so stay tuned for more ranting :)

Just Listen

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen has to be a true classic.

Sarah Dessen is one of the greatest writers for real-life teen novels and this book, in my opinion, is her finest. She published this in 2007, and it is a true testament to her talent. The main plot in this story is told by a girl named Annabel, who has two older sisters. Her and her sisters appear to be perfect: all blonde, tall and did some modelling. But beneath the surface, they are all falling apart: Kirsten, her oldest sister is at college, majoring in film and sharing a flat with Whitney. The middle sister, Whitney, is suffering from an eating disorder as a result of her considerable modelling talent and trying to stop Kirsten from spilling the beans to their parents.

Annabel has problems rivalling her sisters': what was taken as infidelity with her best friend's boyfriend was actually not what it seemed. Her story is gradually revealed throughout the book. Annabel goes to notable lengths to prevent speaking about what happens to her : she avoids confrontation at any cost. We watch as Annabel manages to form an odd friendship with Owen, "the school's most notorious loner". He manages to help her learn to speak out about things, to be honest, and to discover that her life is not as bleak and friendless as it looks.

Dessen's use of music in this book plays a very important role -- Owen's obsession with music and his determination to "enlighten" Annabel in her music tastes helps them and their relationship throughout the novel. Dessen helps us see into the deepest depths of human beings as we experience Annabel's flaws, struggles, and slow steps towards healing and hope for the future.

Blah blah blah...

So, this is my first ever blog... I'm not quite sure what to say, but I think I'll start out with an explanation. Mostly I'm going to be reviewing books and music probably (since those are two of my favourite things ever) but also I will be talking about my life. Possibly also ranting. Since I don't do much of that usually.

A little about myself: my name is Emma, I am 17 years old, and I live somewhere in North America (no stalkers please :). I'm fairly tall (I consider myself to be) and I have blonde hair and bluish green eyes. That may sound fairly stereotyped, but I'm not. My hobbies include: playing field hockey, running, reading, watching (good) movies, baking, hanging out, and having fun. I will try not to neglect the blog, but I do go to high school and I am in grade 12, so it's kinda hectic. I'm really liking being a senior though :) grad sweats, being oldest, and all. Plus I do volunteer and so on, so yeah. This blog may not be updated as much as I'd like it to be. But let's not jinx it yet :)

Next year, I plan to go away to university. I'm going to major in psychology (BSc) and minor in music (hopefully, I'm not sure if I'm good enough). I've already been accepted in a couple of places, so at least I'm going somewhere :) Before that, this summer I plan to go and stay with some relatives in Alberta (and work) or go to Malaysia with my bestie :P

Anyways, thanks for tolerating my newness & I promise there will be more interesting stuff next time I post this!!

If someone really annoying was saying a lot of stupid stuff in class, what would you do?
